Reply:It is a adjustable pole that holds cables and a umbrela for shade . when your set up for work. Iswings out from the bed.
Reply:Yep, Nick is correct.Just about every pipeliner that I have seen (American or Canadian) has a Hoosier Pole of some sort on their rig.Comes in real handy to hang welding leads, remote, and umbrella off of (like Nick said) as you move the rig up the line.Have  a Good Day.Later,Jason
Reply:Thanks for the fast answering. I work it southwest virginia and most people around here dont have them but they sound like a handy tool. Ill have to get one. Thanks
Reply:Here's a link to pretty much the same question over on the AWS forum:http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/topic...hoosier%20poleI have seen lots of pics over there too of guys on the line, with the poles swung out over the ditch as they weld.  If I run across any, I'll post them over here for you.Have a Good OneLater,Jason
Reply:Wouldn't it be better if you built your own bed? Just asking.
Reply:This a bed I built a few weeks ago, the Hoosier pole is the 2" pipe uprites attached to the deck boxes. The first time you have to do a tie-in in a bellhole, you'll be glad you had this thing to keep dirt and rocks from getting dragged down by your leads. Attached Images
