I am trying to braze copper and get  a nice color match.     Seems Harris "0" is widely recommended.      It doensn't match  when I try.      It looks much more gray.      Anyone have any comments about this to helpme out ?
Reply:If the base metal is deoxified copper, why braze? Weld. if brazing is the only option, aftter brazing, you might get a better look (although it will not be a match) by burnishing with a copper bristled brush attached to a drill or a grinder.
Reply:I think that it's recommended that the joint be cleaned with dilute sulfuric acid to get the color the same, but not everyone has access ti it, and it eats holes in cloth easily, so I'd try some hydrochloric acid instead, then rinse well with water.  Sanding or heavy brushing should give the same results, if it's not to thin.
Reply:Thats two good replys, why not weld it?    Warpage is an enemy. I don't want to TIG it.   I'd be all ears  about anyones MIG experiances.   This copper is clean and shiny off the truck.      Would that copper brush be good getting rid of bordering heat discolorartion or is it kinda coarse?    Also what would be somthing good for buffing out any scrathes that may occur?
