Hi everybody! I'm looking for a welder for a project I've got with others to come. I just bought an old jeep. The floor's rotted out and I need to weld in some replcement material, 18 guage. My dad taught me to weld back in the day using a Lincoln arc welder so I've been looking at new and used Lincoln 225's, but it shows a minimum guage of 16. Should I be looking for a different machine? I'd like to keep the cost under 300. I can buy a new 225 for $270 at Home Depot, less used. Can I use a small stick, go fast, and get it done or will I just be burning a bunch of holes?
Reply:not that it cant be done with the linc 225 but a 110 volt fcaw/mig would be the right thing for 18 ga...
Reply:I agree with weldbead, go with a 110 mig. i bought a MM DVI2 and it can go 110 or 220 and it welds up that 18 ga. great. the CJ2A is coming around ever so slowly! LOL |
