Is there a "magic box" attachment that'll take the DC from a DC only output welding rig and invert it to AC for working with non-ferrous metalsFriend of mine swears he's seen one. I'm not experienced enough to know one way or the other. I've not found anything with Google searches unless I'm using the wrong terms. He says there's another device to make constant voltage from a constant current machine. Maybe he's sniffed too many welding fumes?
Reply:DC to AC, yes its an inverter, $$$$. You may be better off with a AC welder.Constant current to constant voltage? Yes, for Mig welding, a suitcase box, also $$$$.
Reply:Hmmm. Ive never heard ethier. Maybe if you searched on Miller or lincolns website for something like what your talking about. If there is such a thing they would probably make it.
Reply:Supposively Lincoln has some kind of adaptor for their pipeliner dc/cc stick welders to provide constant voltage for running wire from a pipeliner with an accross the arc feeder (no remote control).Ive not seen or heard of converting a dc welder to ac. I think it would be better to just buy an ac tig welder if you are looking to tig weld aluminum.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:For good welds, use the correct process, machine and gas. JGSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
