Does anybody have reelcraft safety T welding reels on thier service truck? Anybody ever had a problem with theirs? A buddy of mine has them for his truck and I love to have a set. But can't seem to find them anywhere cheap. Best prices I found are $1300 for the double tall stacked version. I do like that they are aluminum, which will go very nicely with my alumium welding bed I built for my truck. Or does anybody have another suggestion for reels.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:You should build your own, they are not that hard to build. Mine are over twenty years old and have always worked perfectly. They are built on trailer spindles. Just build the spool on the back part of the hub where the wheel studs would be. The current goes through the bearings. Insulate the base from the truck with plastic cutting board or pieces of mud flap. Use pieces of tough plastic tubing through the bolt holes to insulate the bed from the bolts. You could build them out of aluminum and bolt them to the axle hub. |
