I started building my garage/shop back in July 2003. Its 30'x30'garage, then i decided while i was at it might as well add an 18'x18' shop area. Now then take in mind only tools used in building this thing was a bobcat225, 41/2 angle grinder, cordless drill, cuttin torch, and a ladder, 1 son, and a lot of sweat and a tiny bit of blood.

Reply:Billy, it appears you have a considerable span on the sheet metal, so I'm figurin you don't see a lot of snow accumulation. In this part of the country, 4 feet of span is pushin your luck on metal roofing.Do you have serious wind considerations where you are, or don't you have to worry about that either?Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:well we don't get much snow down here franz except for today. and yes we get lot of wind. i did place em a bit too far apart. but it has already withstood 50mph straight winds into it, i am going to add more perlin to it cause after i finished it i knew i screwed up. may be a tad harder to put under tin but i think i can get it done. all the frame work is made outta 2 3/8 oilfield tubing which is about .190wallLast edited by rodburner; 01-18-2004 at 01:26 PM.

Reply:A toast to a job well done! I would not have thought to store my gasoline under my chop saw, but I don't have a all steel building either, just kidding,
Reply:Lol yea i don't store em there either thats where they ended up when i emptied em and ain't put em back in truck to fill back up, i for sure don't cut with em under there lol, might not have a shop to work in
Reply:Hey rodburner, you mentioned garage doors don't know where Merkel is but if your close to the red river you might drive up to Madill OK a place called J&I Manufacturing I bought a 8'x10" ($289) and a 10x10 ($309) for my shop this past weekend. BTW they are roll-up doors. Nice lookin work shop.Still lookin for Rock!
Reply:thanks Alden, been pondering on which type doors i wanted, never hung garage doors before but am leaning towards roll up type, and i'm about 3hr drive just to the red river. I have access to a metal building facility bout an hr away and they have a 10'x8' roll up for 236, haven't checked it out to see if its worth that yet, but thanks for the info, will keep it in mind. |
