I have an old miller generator/welder, and today while moving it from the second floor to the first, it sort of just fell. Its a heavy machine my guess is around 300lbs. Luckily the carburetor took the fall followed by the top of the case. After a new carb ($174) and soldering a capacitor back on it works. Of course its slanted to the left a little bit and the front panel is pushed in a couple inches but it just might last. P.S. I just repainted the damn thing 2 weeks ago.
Reply:cbrxx,Sorry to hear about your welders lesson in gravity. Made all the worse since you had just painted it. As long as it works, I wouldn't worry too much about a few battle scars. It will give you something to talk about years from now.
Reply:After looking at the welds holding up the second floor, I don't blame you for moving it. I would be real nervous working under a concrete floor held up with those welds. I used to work in a prefab building here in the earthquake capitol. I told all my co-workers if a earthquake hit, don't get between me and the door because I'll be moving fast, don't like the idea of wearing the roof.
