Hi, this is my first post here...  It isn't much to look at, but this is what I made in my "Welding for the Artist" class I'm taking--I wanted to casually learn how to weld.  I cut the M out with a plasma cutter and then stuck it back onto the cutout, offset.  The weld for the M looks pretty ugly because I tried to do it with an Arc welder...  The piece I welded onto the back at 90-degrees to hold the thing up looks MUCH nicer since I did it with a MIG welder.   I sandblasted the whole thing and then polished the M to make it all nice and shiny.  Next time, I'm going to try and bring my camera to class to take some photos of the practice welds that I did...  I would love input on them from more than just my teacher.  I did some extra practice with the MIG and did an open corner weld that looked uuuugly, but felt very strong when it was finished, and I also welded a seam that actually looked pretty decent when finished.I found a lot of good tips, info, and advice on this message board, so thanks, everyone!
Reply:That looks pretty neat  Nice job... I don't think the 'm' turned out ugly, I like the effect you achieved.
Reply:i have done a bunch of projects (Mostly art related) and even if your not satisifed people around you will be. plus every piece that you do after will make you work harder to make it what you would expect from yourself, good luck, welcome to the board.... brian
