I live in louisiana and I am looking at a career as a welder. I am waiting to hear from the local iron workers union now. I was wondering what to expect as for as work. Wht type of work would be done. Would I need to have my own truck and equipment? If so its not a big deal just want to start saving money!Last edited by mater; 09-01-2009 at 11:41 PM.
Reply:Mater, that really depends on what industry you go into with your welding. It is impossible to say how long your apprenticeship will take, it is impossible to say how much money will be involved. All I can guarantee is some slag down your boot eventually!!You may wind up on structural steel/ ala highrise buildings; you may wind up on oil/ gas pipelines. Heck, you may wind up welding on cars/ trucks, or fences for all you know. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:Ok I just got a job building steel buildings. I hope I can have a clean rig like pipliners thanks for your help! |
