Hii have an old airco handle and cutting head. i want to add a mixer and welding tips. The stick-on tags are worn off. There are stamped number on both handle and cutting head. handle has the numbers; 86-403124 stamped on the shoulder where the attachments would go and has a 5/8 X 38 tpi thread on the end. Can someone help me identify this model so i can search around for the right parts.  I don't know if it will work, but here is an attempt to add an image;thanks Jeremiah
Reply:oh well that didn't work. here is a link to the pic; http://www.box.net/shared/0p2roe6813
Reply:jchace, from the picture it looks like you have an Airco style 750 torch and a style 2700 cutting attachment. if it is then it would accept style 2400, 2700, 3700, 4700 series cutters. style 70, 98,188 torch tips. can you read the number on the cutting head?johnjohnwelding instructorwww.williamrmoore.orgMooreTech College of Technologywelder/fabricatorJGWilson, Inc.www.jgwilson.com
Reply:Hi John, i was hoping you would respond. the cutter head has the numbers 86-401210.
Reply:jchace,   John was correct by identifing the welding handle as a model 750.  The cutting attachment is a model 3790.  The three tube are the same size on the 2790, but the cutting oxygen tube is larger on the 3790 like the one you pictured.  The number on the cutting attachment is a serial number.  The 86- is the year of manufacturing.  Parts are still avialable for this torch, however, Airco, which is now "Concoa", made alot of design changes to thier OA equipment in the mid 80's.  All of the parts are still available, but some are from aftermarket suppliers. You can use this combination with any gas and all most any Concoa cutting tip.  Concoa has a desent website with product info.  Here is the link.    http://www.concoa.com/cut_weld_catalog.html  Hope this helps!OAdoctor
Reply:the doc might be exactly right on the cutter.jchace, the 750 torch is a good torch and can take a wide array of attachments. if you take your cutting tip off your cutter, check how many seats (or steps) it has. if it has only 2, then you have a style 2700. if it has 3 seats then you have either a style 3700 or 4700. style 3700 would have had a bronze head, style 4700 a S.S. head (there was also style 2400 that only had 1 seat and took style 112/132 tips only). these came in either 75 or 90 degree cutting heads, thus, 4775 - 75 degree head, 4790 - 90 degree head, etc.welding tips, style 70 have a mixer on them. style 98 do not. style 188 is a bulbous flame tip also without a mixer on it. then you also have multi tips, rosebuds, etc.and i forgot all about Concoa, thanks doc!hope this helps a little more, and again, this info is for the older Airco stuff, i haven't used Airco torches in a long time - but they were good!johnjohnwelding instructorwww.williamrmoore.orgMooreTech College of Technologywelder/fabricatorJGWilson, Inc.www.jgwilson.com
Reply:WOW, what a great help you guys have been John and Doc. After fishing around on the net all over the place and also looking into small aircraft torches my head is spinning with so many numbers rattling around up there I have a headache and my *** hurts. It's very good to finally get a handle on what I have here. thanks so much for your help with this. I have found a mixer and tips now too (new original airco) so should have a complete setup soon. my cutting head, bronze with a 90 deg then is a 3790 and the local welding supply has these three stepped tips for it. thanks again. Jeremiah
