I'm currently shopping for a autodark helmet, is getting one with 1/25000 the fastest? I've seen'em anywhere from 1/12000 to 1/25000. Also for Mig welding would the best shade be about #11(or does it depend on preference?)?Drink a Guinness Draught....Millermatic 140Do you still rememberDecember's foggy freeze --when the ice thatclings on to your beard isscreaming agony.
Reply:Well I have a Miller Elite Auto Darkening, and I love it. Me and a few of my buddies have them, I don't think any of us have had any issues with them. The thing with the shaded lense is that you can adjust how dark it is right on the helmet with a little knob. I think mine goes up to a 13... cant remember. But its an overall really good helmet, really light, and the rubber cushion makes it really comfortable.Dennis
Reply:Whats your budget? How thick of metal are you mig welding? Do you plan to tig weld later? If you are planning on tig welding with it, I would recommend getting something with adjustable sensitivity. I have had a couple of cheap auto darkening helmets, and they suck! They didn't last, and they flashed me every now and then. Check out the speedglas 9100 series (thats what I have now and love it), the speedglas SL looks cool if your in need of something really light weight, and the Speedglas 9002 has proven to be a really good helmet.. The other big names (miller, jackson, etc..) are all really good too.. Of course, this all depends on how much money you have to spend....Esab TradeMaster TorchSmith AW1A Airline TorchLincoln AC/DC 225/125Millermatic 252 w/ Spoolmatic 15aThermal Arc 190 GTSSpeedGlas 9100v |
