bending 1/4 sheet

Stupid question, but I'll ask anyways.What type of machine is used to bend 1/4" sheet into a round bend with about a 9" radius for a 90 degree bend?  It is meant to be a round bend.Also for bending 1/4" bar about 80 degrees with a sharp bend.This would have to be something that could be duplicated time and time again, so torching then whaching on an anvil ain't what i'm looking for.thanks
Reply:What is the lenthg of your sheet. An iron worker with brake could bend a small piece of bar at a 90. To achieve a 9" rad. bend you would use a brake with the down stroke set at a predetermined degree depending on the number of bends, the more bends you have the more round or smooth it will be.J P Streets Welding LLC
Reply:The 9" radius bend can be done easily with a Hossfeld-type bender. Very useful tools. Did some tight bends in 3/8X2" bar the hard way this weekend. The bend is done around a cylindrical mandrel slightly smaller than the finish ID. Close to perfect on the first one, second bend was better.Had to make up a special follower for the job, which isn't an unusual thing. Much if the tooling for these is made to fit a particular job. Easy to do.For repetative work, run a test piece or two to set up stops, then the rest are simple. One shot work tends to take planning.
Reply:When you say "sheet" how big are you talking? A ring roller is what you're looking for. Easily repeatable for what you're talking about. Adjusting the tension on the wheel determines the radius of the bend. Sharp bends, like enlpck said, Hossfelf type bender. You will need to pay attention as you will get some "spring back" from the metal being bent itself.
