Questions about remote for engine drive ?

I just started taking a API 1104 pipe welding class.  Everyone was suppost to bring thier own welding rigs.  (one guy didn't get the message)  But he wasn't the one who looked like an idiot.  Anyways we all fired up our welders and dragged our leads into the building.  Since I am a structural guy I am used to setting the welder and leaving it their all day.  This down hill pipe welding you need to change the amps constantly between passes.  The other guys who already are where up hill pipe welders had their remotes with them.  So guess who had to keep walking out to his truck every 5 mins to adjust his machine up and down.  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRAnyways.  Anybody know what controller I need for my Commander 300?  Is there any other aftermarket brand remotes insteaded of the lincoln brand.  Does any body have the remote with the built in electric plugs for running grinders?  Let me know what you know.  Thanks,Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:most downhanders that i have seen use the cable's control box, you can buy them from Shirley J Cable, 5279 Dewey Brown Rd, Bastrop, La 71220-7256   Phone and fax number is 318-281-1833. these people are great to deal with, more than once they have worked with people after hours and even on sundays. this box is the gray box with the outlets on the side, the kit will come with the pigtale and all wireing instructions, i have wired up a half-dozen machines with this remote, much nicer than the lincoln factory remote. most pipeliners will run this box, and welcome to the world of downhanding   Dave Pa
