another electrocution storey...or not!

i was reading the thread "death by electrocution"it reminded me of something.i was working in a basement of a house that was getting a lot of work done to it.there was a older Jamaican electrician and i looking at the new panel. it had the front off and lots of bare parts showing.the electrician was getting all excited and pointing right in the panel as he was talking at 1000MPH. I said to be careful as i thought that the panel was live......he said "it doesnt matter, if you've been working with electricity as long as me" he then touched one of the buzz bars to prove his point....without getting a shock!!i told him that he was nuts and took off as he was scaring the sh1t out of me.upstairs i had one of those current senors that beeped near any significant current, so i took it back downstairs to see if the panel was live or not....it was beeping everywhere!The electrician saw this and came over talking (at the speed of sound) about how he was "immune" to shocks and proceeded to put his index finger of each hand in the allen screw that held the main (6 gauge +/-) cables to the buzz bars.......at the same time     without getting any kind of shock!!i called him a lunatic and left.So that was 220V between the buzzbars (in the US)HOW???G
Reply:Everybody skin moisture and mineral content is a bit different. I worked with a guy way back in the 70's that could, on dry days, check for voltage with his fingers. He said if it was hot he'd feel a bit of a buzz. If it wasn't hot he wouldn't feel anything. So there are the rare ones I guess.

Reply:When they grabbed the hot buss bar they were counting on not being grounded. Since they didn't get zapped they counted right but still a ballsy move in that situation. A normal person has a body resistance of well over a Mega (million) Ohms, but start sweating or get wet and that can go down to under a 100 kilo (thousand) Ohms. If about 0.1 amps of current flow through your heart your dead. It's simple ohms law after thatDaKK
Reply:I'm no electrical wiz, but that's just plain dumb. It's litterally asking to be killed. I've been electrocuted with voltage all the way up to 480v, 3 phase because of someone else's stupidity (actually, my own for trusting them), and I felt lucky to not have died. I could never imagine purposely touching any live wire, it only takes one time.
Reply:There may be those that remember, many of the old six cylinder flathead engines had simple metal spark plug clips, no insulation.   I knew an old guy, could spread out his fingers, short out a running engine.  Sometimes he'd do this just for fun, usually it was just because he didn't want to bother going back into the cab and shutting the ignition key off, when he was working on or tuning an engine.
