Is it possible to form a shepherds hook plant hanger using a bender like the harber freight type I see mentioned on this site from time to time?? What other benders are good ones to buy?? Thanks
Reply:Cut a piece of pipe in the diameter you want for the hook. Weld it and a piece of round stock onto a piece of angle iron. The round stock is welded on end far enough away from the pipe to allow your working stock to enter between the two. Your stock will catch on the round pin and then you can wrap around the pipe. The angle iron is to hold the jig pieces and for clamping it in a vise.Get it hot and hit it hard...
Reply:The 3/4 and 1 inch conduit benders can be used to make the crook. I have used one to make a bunch of them. Just lay the rod on the shop floor and pull the bender handle back till you get the curve you want. You will first need to make the hook end (I use a torch and bend the end in a vice)
