Am I using the right insulator for a regular gas lens? I used http://www.weldcraft.com/pdfs/WP-17.pdf part numbers to order.I have an LS17 Torch so I guess all collets, gas lens, cup, that fit a "17" fits this right?Weldcraft has WP-17, LS-17, and CS-17 which confuses me.I tried it out a number of ways but it still doesn't come out right. It flashes and flashes. This kit from HTP looks like it will fit mine:
Reply:Yup thats the one, just make sure the lens is in tight. Mine likes to come off with the cupThat second picture, is that a one piece insulator build for the lens? Looks like it should work well, I have the 2 piece bit.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Ah ha.I was trying to weld with just one insulator. That would be part 3GHS. If I used the one pictured, it has to be in tandem with the old insulator, i.e. two piece. It just looked weird to me using 2 insulators and the back cap sticks out 1/8" more it seems. Most gas lens set up I see only has one heat shield.http://www.foxweldingsupply.com/down.../FOX_63-68.pdfIt mentions it but doesn't have a picture so it threw me off.I was just making sure I didn't put the insulator on backwards or if I had the wrong part because there are in fact two kinds, 1 piece and 2 piece. Is the general rule to keep the same CFM on the argon as if you weren't using a gas lens?Last edited by coolcat2002; 10-25-2009 at 10:56 PM. |
