Sometimes you have to do things just because you've never seen it before.Attached is a picture of a fence in a fence.Customer wanted something west Texas in this panel in the front corner.  I figured a fence scene is about as Texas as a scene can be in Texas. Those are family initials formed into cattle brands too.  Again, never seen a fence with cattle brands instead of scrolls so I thought I'd do one. Reply:Here's a gate that goes with that job. They're a strong family.  So I thought there's nothing better to represent a strong family than a tree. Attached Imageslife is good
Reply:Here's another shot of the gate.  I wish I had a better picture.  These were taken in the spring last year.  Fence was eight years old then. Attached Imageslife is good

Reply:Very Nice Work.  I have a couple of questions.  I want to build some gates for my own corrals.... What kind of pipe did you use?  (diameter)  Is it galvanized?  Thin Wall or heavy walled pipe?  The Arc looks nice, I would assume you have a pipe bender for that?  Could you give me an idea of how you make the arc.  thanks  PackratLincoln 225 AC/DC, Hobart 140 Mig. Oxy/propane Victor torch.(2) Makita 5" angle grinders  one with zip disk, 14" chop saw.  and just about every other tool you can think of. Whoever has the most toys when he die's ..... Wins!

Reply:Here's the business end.  The outside holes have brake-tail, inside that is back up, and the single is a cargo.  I've got to do the reeds and cat tails and then I'll have it powder coated white to match the bed with green and yellow.  I've never seen a three color headache rack before so I decided to do one.Last edited by wroughtn_harv; 01-25-2005 at 06:42 AM.life is good

Reply:I don't have a bender, But I have created some unique bends in pipe Using a Rose bud, and lots of patience.  I wasn't really planning on anything fancy, just practical.  I have access to some 2 3/8 Drill stem. But I won't need that heavy for horses.  So I'm going to try  the Pipe they use on Chain link fences.Lincoln 225 AC/DC, Hobart 140 Mig. Reply:Down here in drill stem country we don't use it anymore.  Too much of a problem with different contaminations. If you have an in with a muffler shop they use a sixteen gauge alumanized (electrostatically applied galvanizing I suspect).  They have a two and a half inch O.D. size.  And there again, itty bitty bites, and they can do a slow bend for you.  I used to come in mid morning when it was slow and they'd help just to have something to do.Somewhere I have some pictures of bending half by two inch bar stock the hard way with just a hammer.  It is amazing how much of a curve you can do with little bites.I don't know why this site stopped taking pictures. Reply:I guess I did something wrong. double darn durn! That's a picture of my horseshoe slide latch.  It's in the closed position. Here's it's in the open position.  This makes it handy.  You can look across the pasture and if you see two shoes, it's unlatched.  This also gives a place for a padlock.  And it makes it awkward for the horses to work.  You have to take the shoe vertical to get it past the little barrier there. And the customer's just love it. Reply:Here's a schedule forty galvanized pipe gate.  The rock on the hinge post is a lamp.  I'd never seen a hundred pound lamp shade before so I decided the world needed at least one.  It's cool after dark. Attached Imageslife is good
