I was going to use my abrasive drop saw but read that thread about cutting aluminium sheet.I only have to make 4 cuts.C'mon, the chop saw will be fine, won't it?I'm going to get the bits anodized after they're cut.ScottYeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:Clamp them to a regular miter saw with carbide blade. You have to use a clamp! You don't want to know what happens when a piece moves. My name's not Jim....
Reply:Hmmm. I don't have one of them. I've got a cut-off saw or some hand held circular saws. Looks like a trip down the road to my mate's place.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
Reply:You're using a steel abrasive instead of aluminum ??

Reply:Yeah, Sandy, it would be the blade I use to cut everything. I didn't realise there were aluminium blades? For the sake of a couple of cuts, I'll go down the road - Tony owes me a beer anyway.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.

Reply:Cutting aluminum with an abrasive blades causes the aluminum to gum up the blade, gum up the cut edge which makes for a very nasty cut edge, and will have to ground off with a sandpaper wheel before any welding can happen on that edge. Use a carbide toothed blade in any appropriate wood cutting saw (miter saw, circular saw, table saw), or use a band saw, jig saw, or sawz-all reciprocating saw.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:4 cuts, on some hollow aluminum?Just use a hacksaw and you'd be done by now. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:Little bandsaw would be handier

Reply:Okay, just for a giggle I'll get the hacksaw out on the weekend. Might even get a new blade.Yeah, I carry.House keys, wallet, some change, usually a newspaper, maybe a pen.
