"m the proud new owner of a Hobart G-400 gas powered welderbasically I need to know everything... I know nuthin about gas welders... this one has been setting up for a few years... The fuel tank is rusted out so I"ve got to get a substitute tank and plumb that in... I"m assuming this is a 400 amp welder or so ???? I"ve got a new battery in it and the starter cleaned so it is turning over and making oil pressure. But, no fire. It has a Chrysler slant 6 engine with electronic ignition. I really need a wiring diagram to figure it out. the switch/starter combo don"t actuate the starter like they should so I"m starting it with a screwdriver shorting out the starter... I know something isn"t getting juice but I"m hesitant tostart ripping things loose..if i could find a manual on it it would be great.... haven"t found any reference to it or manuals on the net... any help you could be would be appreciated.... here"s a pic so we know we"re talking about the same unitthanksjohn Attached Images
Reply:It looks old lolMike
Reply:is that a crank start?
Reply:Be cautious with the electronic ignition. Those early chrysler units would not take voltage spikes. If you unplug a module with the ignition switch on the module is instantly fried. There is no smoke to tell you.
Reply:I would sell that thing and buy one I could use....
