deer hunting is only a couple months away, I was planning on making 2 or 3, hang on stands. does anyone have any plans or designs.Im just looking for a small simple design. I was thinking of using 14 ga square tubing and expanded metal.
Reply:Do a search for ladder stands.........kraftymate

Reply:if you do build yourself a deer stand I recomend that you do your self a favor and upon completion of the project  attach it to a tree  just off the ground and try to destroy it.   What I mean by that is   lean in both directions to make sure it does not slip sidways, jump on it with all your weight  if you have a buddy that weighs a bunch more than you do  have him jump on it to make sure that the safty chain does not break or if you were to have a weak weld --  if it is to break it  in any way the fall from a foot from the ground is not as bad as if you were 15 or 20 feet up in the tree! ! !   I do hate to sound critical  but I hear of more than one  person that falls from a tree stand during deer hunting season most every year.good luck hunting
Reply:yea thanks JW, I would hate to have a weak weld and fall from 20ft up and not be able to hunt the rest of my life. Ill definately test it out not far from the ground.
Reply:Sorry for the delay in getting the pics. Here are a few of the second hang on I made. I made this one foldable. Attached ImagesBrett B & B Fabrication and Welding Inc.Spalding, MI.
Reply:Just my two cents, but when I did mine, I used racheting (sp?) tie down straps instead of chains to attach it to the tree. They allow you to get it much tighter to the tree and fairly cheap, light, and much quiter than chains.
Reply:I used the ratchet straps on the ladder type and wasn't happy. So I went to chains, I feel so much safer when I'm up in the tree with no chance of the stand slipping. The chains bite into the tree with just a little pressure. Your body weight is plenty to keep the stand firmly in place.Just my experienceBrett B & B Fabrication and Welding Inc.Spalding, MI.
Reply:nice stands UPBRETT, it gives me a good idea on how I want to build them. thanks

Reply:It is a stick welder .Just wondering  if someone knows  about  how old  it is.thanks for your response  sticklincoln !
Reply:Hey pal. Go to sears.com and click on parts. Punch in the model number and it will give you a diagram of all the "parts". This is a great web site for finding parts for old Sears parts like the belt on my drill press.
