I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with modifiing a frame like this one so that it was a 2 seater. but the second seat is directly behind the  one in the picture. similar to how people are seated in a fighter jet. all the help you can give would be appreciadedbuggy
Reply:Tigerchaser, if it was me I would cut it right behind the roll cage.  Then you will have to add the desired amount to the lower frame, and then put the backend  on to the lengthened front.  of course lengthening out a frame like that you will then have to lengthen the rollcage, and that middle tube of the chassis.  I would add some additional diaganol braces from the lower frame up to the middle tubing for support, but hard for me to say by looking at the picture as to how much additional bracing will be needed.  if you can handle adding to the frame you should be able to tell about the bracing.  Good luck  ~Jackson
Reply:I have never attempted a project like this, but it seems that in just looking at the design, using a fighter jet seating arrangment would make the buggy about 50-75% longer, front to rear.  Would you agree with that?  Wouldn't this kinda mess up the steering geometry and make the buggy substantially less manuverable?  also, this will really affect ground clearence and seem to require bulking up longitudinal supports, ie., a jump might cause it to bottom out a lot and eventually break it in half.  I am not trying to discourage mods, just add a thought or two.  Good luck, looks like a lot of fun ahead.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:yah thanks for the advice I am planing on build a complete new kart with that seat style  so the frame peices from front to rear will be one piece. does anyone  have a frame blueprint similar to the kart I have showen that I could just modify
Reply:You mean like this!  Can I have a ride when youre done?  I'll bring the beer.http://www.badlandbuggy.com/gallery/g_26.jpgSmithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:I make it out to the desert occasionally and wouldn't mind having something like this.  I am very tempted to build one of these as light as possible out of 4130 tubing and then stuff a Suzuki GSXR 1000 engine in it (~150hp).I like the idea of adapting sportbike parts to other purposes, since they're all high-speed, low-drag materials and there's a lot of 'em available in the used/salvage market.  A lot of folks are apparently buying too much bike and then crashing them.-Heath
Reply:That is exactly what I was thinking thanks for the pic (beer and dune buggy what could go wrong)  does anyone have any plans for a buggy like that
