HELLO The place i live at has a 12x8 shed. the floor is wood. Is there anything to put on the floor to protect it from me starting a fire? Any suggestion?thanks
Reply:3 sheets of 16 ga. steel? or maybe some diamond plate?Syncrowave 250 DX (Watercooled)Millermatic 251Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101H
Reply:Diamond plate looks cool, but sucks if you ever have to work on the floor. You can put down an industrial linolium tile, like they have in schools and stores. Usually comes in 1'x1' tiles for around $0.60USD a peice, can do the area your size in an afternoon. Just be sure to sand it level (and clean it up well, or the tiles will not stick.)
Reply:Now that i think of it...sheet steel would make a great floor, as you can tack stuff to it while your building to keep it from moving...
Reply:a sheet steel floor may be a slippery place to work at times.i think that the tiles would be cheaper, and a good excuse to make a welding table = }
Reply:If you tack on the sheet metal it gets very hot. There is still wood under it that could ignite.
Reply:Quick safety question...Could a sheet steel floor (if grounded) pose any hazard of electricution??? In other words, would it be dangerous for a person to be between the floor and any device that put out ac current. I dont generally weld bare-footed, but I do lay down occasionally. Seems like you might get yourself in a situation where you could potentially become the ground wire.Last edited by smithboy; 10-28-2005 at 09:39 AM.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:I could see it happening in a very rare occasion.
Reply:thats for all the replies. i thought about the steel floor, but the tile floor might be the best route.i have 3 pieces of stanless stell sheets i got from a friend and are no good to work with, but i put them on the floor for now.thanksagain. |
