Dumpbed Plans

Looking for some Dumpbed Plans. Anyone have something that could be built from junkyard scrap? I would like to convert an 86 Dodge bed into a dumpbed. Thanks for any help.jcooper
Reply:Do you want to keep the stock bed or make a flat bed ? There are flat bed plans by doing a google search and it will give you the basic drawings for the flatbed using C-channel. I got a dump kit hoist on e-ebay (cheaper than Notherns Dump kit for the same tonnage). The kit came with brackets and hinge stuff. I did not like their bracketry or hinge set up so I made all my own stuff to adapt to my flatbed.Rememeer the kit was designed for a regular pickup bed which might be what you want.Thus all I used was the cylinder and sissor assembly. You might get some ideas on my project. Go to www.tjsperformance.com and click on chevy truck link. If you do keep your stock bed make sure you make a frame with crossmembers under the bed to support it cause the stock beds will flex with a load when you go to dump it. Hope this helps.T.J.

Reply:TJI did that earlier and just tried it again. The items that display for me all show the cylinder. Most are used hoists. I did not see a set without the cylinder that looked like a kit. What is the number?jcooper
Reply:jcooper,  I am not sure what you are talking about. The parts shown are used and come with the cylinder with the sissor attachment. Do you mean they do not show a pump???? If you want a whole set up without fabrication then get the unit from Northern.  Thanks     T.J.

Reply:Here's alittle something I threw together out of a Mile of 1/2" black iron pipe,....... Poor Choice of material,.. But it was Free........Dump Hyd. are a recovered Mercruiser Trim System..........
