Anyone have experience in using a sandblaster unit. I have been setting up a 10 x 10 tent every time I need to sandblast something, not just worth it for small stuff. SO, I get this neat mixing chamber from the local factory thats redoing thier shop, aside from being 12 feet tall and costing me a tailgate for my truck, I have a question to you of those that are in the buiss. of using one on a regular basis, Its is NOT a sand blaster, at least yet, my question is the door. I have two choices, one being the usual , as in cut out the side and make a door and close in the front. OR my idea as to use a couple of gas struts and make a lilfting front complete with the glove thingies. This way i can have a 45 inch square blasting area. And yes it will support a small block Chevy in the center as it stands now.  So OK split front opening to  each side from the middle, or whole top lifts up. Attached Images
Reply:I really dont want to cut a "new door in the side" rather make the front open side tio side as a box would be shaped (area for large stuff), or lift up. Your thoughts are appreciated
Reply:Doesn't look like many people have an opinion so here's mine. I built one of these from scratch tears ago when they were still expensive to buy. It still works great to this day. Build the door in the front if you want but don't incorporate the gloves in the door as they'll just flop around on you. Install a light in the box. Seal the door well. Install an outlet to hook up a shopvac to suck out the dust. Use replaceable plastic over your window. When mounting the gloves make them low enough to be comfortable - you can get a sore back real fast is they're at an awkward height. Use a foot control for airpressure as a hand trigger can also be hard to use for any length of time. Most of the stuff you need can be bought from blast cabinet suppliers - gloves, etc.
Reply:I would do a lift top. I would put two hinges in. That way when you want to do something large, the top and front would hinge out of the way. When you use it for normal size stuff you could have the top stay in place while you just open the front.
