Irrigation Trailer in Progress

Here's the plan to modify this trailer adding bins and racks for a irrigation busuess.

Reply:I have one bin left to fabricate. Then I get to mount them on the trailer and build the racks and gussets. It'll be the same on both sides.All in all each bin takes about 3 1/2 hours to make.

Reply:Hey TPnTX, you using these bins for PVC fittings and such?? I see a truck running around here with some open bins with all his fittings in viewable bins and racks for his pipe. Looks pretty handy. You're doing good work there. Nice and square and all. Keep it up.
Reply:You might want to get some lockable doors on the fitting bins. I see similar trucks and trailers around and I always wonder how many fittings get stolen when they stop at Home depot or for lunch. Good work though.
Reply:well it's all over but the painting. I am going to spray it tomorrow and probably go ahead and spray the whole trailer. It's been a real fun project and I'm tired. I've been through 3 spools of flux core and a bunch of 7013 rods.[IMG][/IMG]
Reply:Theres 4 six foot bins with locking doors. 3 bins have 4 15" compartments. One of the 6' bins is divided in half.

Reply:Heres a shot of how the racks are mounted to each bin.The two six foot bins are connect in the middle by 28" angle iron and that where the middel rack is mounted. I went ahead and put expanded metal between the bin making it look like one long bin with the middle compartment not having a cover/door.

Reply:It may not look like it but this turned out very stable. Angle iron is so rigid and it really doesn't move alot.I did not need supports joining the horizonal and vertical extremes.  One benefit of that is if the driver were to hit something with a rack it will not tear up much more than the rack itself.......I think.
