Is one better than the other?
Reply:One is just as good as the other, they just operate in different ways.  Generally, you don't get a choice.  The equipment has whichever one it was designed with.  My XR/Spoolmatic gun has a manually (trigger) operated gas valve.  The gun is several years old, was used in high demand production for a number of years, and the gun and gas valve works just fine, no problems.   There are no pre/post-flow gas timers for a manually operated valve like there can be for one operated by an electric solenoid, but I give it pre/post-flow manually with my finger and it works just as good.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Thanks for your input. I just got an FP 135 115V mig and it has a trigger actuated valve. I didn't realize it until I really looked it over and was surprised by the lack of solenoid. I'm pretty new to all this so I appreciate any information. Thanks again.
