bought a used lincoln sa200 the problem is when i weld the machine / motor kicks down as i am welding i understand that the motor is suppose to kick up when welding i have the opposite happening. i do know much about the idler . i was thinking maybe the machine is in the future of were you put the pin in for the idler to have more power for the outlet is my machine in that mode
Reply:Welcome to the forum! In order to be able to help you with the SA200, we'll need the serial numbers and sometimes the code number helps too. If you haven't already , go to the Lincoln website here: http://content.lincolnelectric.com/p...m/obsomenu.pdf and look up the relevent machine. Also you might look at this forum too, looking under the "Gear" section heading. Reply:OK. The serial #'s .pdf from Lincoln shows A-67888 as 1942. A-97858 as 1943. So your welder was made in late 1942 if the numbers are correct. Is your motor a Hercules and not a Continental Red Seal? If this is correct, you will need to pin the idlers to high idle in order for it to weld correctly, unless a more recent idler has been added. IM-177B at the website above (previous post) is the old style vacuum bellow idler. Does your machine have one of these? IM-179-G.1 is the later vacuum idler. IM-109 is the Hercules IXB engine drive .pdf I don't seem to have the proper #'s for the shorthood .pdf here. Photos help with this type of inquiry too.
