I just bought a Lincoln 335 TIG and despite all the practice I am having trouble laying a nice bead. I can MIG pretty well but TIG is like using a scalpel and MIG is like an ax. I am looking for a welding class in Northern NJ for the hobbyist not someone looking to weld for a profession. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for responding.
Reply:Well first what county are you in ? If you are in sussex county go to sussex tech . The teachers there are good teachers . There is a basic class and advaced class there . Or try passic county tech for some classes .
Reply:Or Morris tech in Denville
Reply:I am in Bergen County. Thanks for the replies
Reply:I just checked Bergen County Tech's catalog and they offer a TIG program. It's 1,265$ and is a full year program. http://bcts.bergen.org/index.php?opt...ink&Itemid=836 and then it's on page 26 of the catalog. It's so nice to see fellow New Jersians out in full force.

Reply:Zapster. thanks for the offer and I may take you up on it. I am burning a lot of rod and only making marginal improvements. I think part is not cleaning the metal properly part is not really knowing what I am doing and part is just needing to practice.
Reply:Big Daddy, "I think part is not cleaning the metal properly part is not really knowing what I am doing and part is just needing to practice" GREAT! I'd like to add one.================================================== ==========knowing if your machine is setup right.Vern |
