anybody know about blueshield 23 and what it is used for? what types of metals, procceses?
Reply:I've used Blueshield23 before.  Argon/CO2/O2 mixture.  I did some digging around and found an applications chart for you off of Air Liquide's website.  What a PITA to find anything on there.http://www.blueshield.ca/en/docs/pdf...hieldarcal.pdfHopefully that helps.Last edited by Black Wolf; 01-25-2008 at 09:33 PM.Later,Jason
Reply:Does anyone know the % of the gases in the mixture.SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:Argon/CO2/O2...  Hmm.. I don't see what is the point of that 3-gas mix.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Very close to BOC's Argoshield light.Approximately 92% Argon, 5% CO2, 3% O2

Reply:Welcome CanMIG, where did you come across this secret mixture, or do you have in insite in to their crystal ball.SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:Thanks for the welcome weldgault.  lol, no crystal ball, just went to the website provided by Black Wolf and checked the MSDS sheet. I took the average CO2 & O2 as they only provided a range. Here's the link -> http://www.ca.airliquide.com/en/busi...20%28US%29.pdf
Reply:Welcome canMIG.Sorry I missed that.Later,Jason
Reply:Thanks, canMig,  can't see any reason anyone would pay for a tri-mix($'s), when 85/15 would do almost the same.  JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :

Reply:Hi, I am using Bluesheild 23 at the moment using .9mm wire for  8-16mm plate and also for doing 2-3mm RHS, it seems to make a nice smooth weld and the rep also said that it is possible to do stainless with it as well, he showed me a sample of a welded peice of stainless and to me it seemed to be slightly porous, but that could have been just my eyesight as I didn't have my proper glasses on or it could have been the welder who did it. I haven't tried it myself so I can't comment on that part but it was one of the reasons that I chose it because I occassionaly do some stainless and didn't want to get two bottles of different gas. Spray transfers aren't a problem, I have two pics of some plate I welded recently, 8mm to a 10mm plate horizontal welded, to me it doesn't seem to be too bad. The first pic had a little bit too much splatter for my liking but that was my fault, I changed my welder recently and just learning to get a handle on it's different settings.
