Hey I've been looking at getting a ring roller to build a few projects and instead of buying one I would rather make one of my own. I drew up one in Google Sketch up (great program to make some 3d models of projects you want to work on), and built it out of material I have on hand. I'm still collecting and preparing to start my project, take a look at it and tell me if theres anything I should change, or any problems you all see with it. Thanks

Reply:Yes bearing will be used. And to keep the lower rollers stabalized there is going to be a guide along each side of the upright to keep it going straight up and down.
Reply:Looks like you've got a good mock-up to work from. Go slow and think it out as you go. Think about ease of assembly and disassembly.

Reply:This ring roller topic shows up every where and often. Obviously a lot of people would like to have one. so far, I have just used an old worn out slip roll I got for $5. It will take up to 5/16" and I have rolled 1/4" x 2" a number of times. You get a little twist here and there, but nothing that can;t be worked out.I would really like to have something to roll small angles and 1/4"x2" the hard way. Every ad for this type of roller never shows the back side where all the interesting part is. Somewhere a while back I found a thread with just what I have in mind, but can't find it again.I hope I am not hijacking this thread, but we were talking about rollers. I'd love to see other pics or designs for rollers, especially those where you can see the works.
