Reply:Very nice, lots of detail taken on both projects.
Reply:Very nice job on both.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:far out man!! ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:What type A.C. is that? A Spitty? Warhawk? Couldn't tell from the small model. Looks cool! Whatcha gonna do with it? Glad to have you on board.
Reply:The plane is suppose to be a Spitfire.  I originally intended to just build it and hang it from the rafters in my garage - just for kicks.  But in order to insulate my garage and gain more storage I'm going to have to completely close-off that area.  So the plane will just be hidden and forgotten once it's done since I have no where else to display it.   BTW, it's 7' long and 8' wide.
Reply:WOW!  Nice work with the plane.  If your not doing anything with it ask a museum or local big restaraunt if they would buy it.  Thats the type of work you see around old antique restaraunts etc or places.  EBAY EBAY EBAY
Reply:I had planed to build a second one - just for that purpose - to ebay it and see what I could get.  But it just takes too long make one.  It's a ridiculous amount of time cause there are no instructions or templates or measurements.  I had a small $3, Wal Mart model from China and a pretty bad black and white photo-copy of 3 different models of the Spitfire.  From those I had to work-out my dimensions.  Every peice is hand beat to shape (cold) since I don't have my bender set-up yet.I'm not even sure what I could ask for something like that?  It'd have to be a fair amount in order for me to do another.Same with the bird sculpture - took roughly 2 months of off and on work to make.  I had roughly 200 hours into it.

Reply:Thx for the comments guys!  I'll be sure to post updated pics of the plane as I get more accomplished.
Reply:Hey Shvelle now you have the prototype!  It should make future copies a little easier.  Well done!
Reply:thats some good stuff right there.  keep up the good workIt's good enough for the girls i run with
Reply:Shvelle, ............ both projects look great and I must say you do fine work.If nothing else, when you get the plane finished, see if some restruant or other business would display it, if they're not interested in buying it. With the talant you have, the least you should do is display your works.
Reply:I may sell it after I stare at it for a couple years, but I've spent waaaaay too much time and effort on it so far to sell it right away.   I too thought I could use the framework as a template for others, but I just started to skin it the other night and I'm not so sure the sheet metal will hold itself without a framework under it?  It's shear size may prevent that, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna weld-up another framework.   I do have a question about finishes tho.  I've been going through some of the old projects (only on page 11 so far...   ).  In doing so I stumbled across someone mentioning a muriatic acid 'bath' to gain a chocolate color.  This is precisely what I would like to do to the bird, and then wire brush some of the finish off again to gain a 'textured' appearance when viewed from a distance.  My specific question is this; how EXACTLY do you go about giving the peice it's 'bath'?  For example - do you dilute the acid?  do you apply and then wipe-off imediately?  do you have to wash the peice with water afterwards?  do you have to apply heat? (I was previously advised against this due to the caustic and highly deadly gases that could be created).Thx in advance for any help with this.
Reply:Fine artistry on both projects.  You've got IT!
