new ring roller

Here are some pics of the ring roller I recently finished.  The frame is 2x4x1/8 scraps, the 12 ton bottle jack is off of my Northern tool pipe bender and with two bolts can move back and fourth.  The only pillow blocks I could find locally were 1" so the shafts were made from 1" cold rolled.  In hind sight I wish I would have gone larger with the shafts.  It can roll 10 in flat.  The bottom two rollers are pushed by the jack and the top roller is driven by the wheel.  The wheel slips over the shaft and is through bolted allowing me to tak the wheel off for storage.  Travis Attached Images
Reply:Great job.Considered a motor.I made a pyramid roller.  I motorized it with a harbor freight winch 1-1/8hp.  On sale the motors are 79.00  I had a coupon and got it for 76.00 total.  After taking off the spool it is a straight conversion.  the shaft is 18mm hex shaped.  It spins at 60 rpm and has a forward and reverse with a break.My two bottom rolls are driven. Tied together with a chain.

Reply:I tried 1" by 1/8 sq tube and it really wanted to bend the 1 inch shafts.  I could probably run it close to the bearings and not have too much flex but next time I would spring for BIG bearings and shaft.  It also doesn't have any means of returning I simply pry it down or stand on it!  Travis
