1. is there a chart for which tungsten size to use for which application (Aluminum, stainless, steel etc..) been doing some aluminum and burning thru the small size pretty quick figure a larger size might help with some higher amps?2. Are there some general setting charts for generic setting for thicknesses of different alloys and where some good starting point settings would be on a Tig machine. Have an everlast 205 and very green to say the least. Alot of mig time and stick but not tig.Thxs for your time, paul
Reply:Hanny,In the operator's manual, there is a full charted list of amperages and sizes.  Have you seen it?  Also the manual tells you which to use and not to use in other areas.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Here's the link to Millers online tig calculator. I have the paper slide rule version that you can order from them. It will give you a rough idea on tungsten size, filler amps, based on weld type and material.http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...calculator.php.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:tung size goes with the amps usedhttp://www.arc-zone.com/pdf/SelectingTungsten.pdfrule of thumb= 1 amp per 1 thousandths of material thickness.if you have a pedal then crank it up a bit and use the pedal to lower it to the heat that you need.after a few beads then you can dial it down/up to suit.G
