new helmet day!

picked up a jackson passive shade 10 last night.  it came with the new 370 headgear.  the new head gear is simply AWESOME  The knob in the back clicks solidly.  The only complaint i have is that its not quite wide enough for my Fred Flinstone head.  Nothing i buy for my head ever fits... hats, motorcycle helmet (took forever to find one that fits), bicycle helmet (only two brand works for me), baseball caps (i dont wear them anymore bc nothing fits)... on and on.  This headgear pinches the sides of my head just a little, but nothing too serious.  For people with normal sized head, i dont think this would be a problem at all. the shade 10 lens shows orange/gold instead of green and that threw me off for a bit.  but at least now i can see the puddle.  the WHOLE puddle.  Much improved from my harbor freight "blue flame" auto darkening.as great as the fixed shade was, i went back today to get the BOSS EQC auto darkening lens, as the fixed shade isn't really working out for me.  One of the issues i had with the HF helmet is that when you adjust the shade, only the center of the lens darken.  When i leave it at shade 9, there are still spots of the lens that are darker then others anyway, just a senseless helmet gloat. Reply:The new 370 headgear is a huge improvement. I got it for ~$9 from buyweld.com and put it in my Jackson Dragon helmet, it's like a whole new world.If you cannot convince them, confuse them.         Harry S Truman
Reply:My jackson has the orange/gold shade color too! I actually like that color. Altho i havn't used a green shade lens too much before. I have no probs with that color plus its not glass so i won't break easy!Ya gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:That's one of the things I have to hand it to Jackson for... The nice colored optics. I have never had the chance to try out Jackson's new headgear, although it doesn't do me much good since my day by day welding requires hardhat adapters. I have noticed (even though I'm partial to Jackson products) that the Miller softband headgear seems to be more adaptable to varying headshapes.
