Reply:40 foot should be about 175 lbs so you can go from there. Here that would be a pretty common size and doubtfull it it went for more than 80¢ a pound. Big and common usually mean lower costs. Maybe you folks have some big time taxes and other operating costs to factor in too tho. Some cities and counties can make it pretty difficult for a business to stay in business.

Reply:The reason you were quoted such a rediculous price is because you are not a frequent and higher volume user.  If you start ordering tons of the stuff the price will drop in relation to volume and frequencey of purchase. Another thing is that i never purchase steel in any amount untill i contact at least 6 suppliers minimum.

Reply:Be careful with the super cheep tube steel.  The local ornamental iron place has this Chinese tube steel that is absolute CRAP!  i bought one in a pinch once because they were close and my regular supplier wasn't.   Most HORRIBLE piece of quality control i have ever seen in a milled product.  it was a parallelogram it was bowed up in the middle it wasn't flat across any of the faces the welded seam was a joke.   all in all HORRIBLE.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
