Reply:That is what I was thinking .. .especially the 9100XX version...
Reply:I hope it's a good one, I just ordered one a little while ago from Indiana Oxygen. I'd tried one on (9000X) and it was really light & comfortable, hopefully the 9100XX is similaredit: looks like I should look at the dates on these threads before I respond-LOLLast edited by regularfella; 03-01-2009 at 04:21 PM.
Reply:Does this model come in Flexview ?
Reply:My dad has a similar helmet, but it has an auto-darkening filter. It's a 9100X, I think.Midwest Metal ProductsMetal Wire Forming Fan Guards Delta-Larm
Reply:The helmet shown IS the 9100X.  It is the newest helmet, and it came out after the 9200X, and Speedglas SLNo, it does not come in flexviewI have two of it's predecessors, the 9000X and 9200X and they are excellent helmets. Here is the link to the 3M Speedglas 2008 / 2009 European Catalogue so you fellas can research the products you are interested in:http://3m.richfx.com.edgesuite.net/c...n1/?rfx_page=1Hope that helps.Last edited by Black Wolf; 03-01-2009 at 10:30 PM.Reason: Added link to catalogueLater,Jason

Reply:For that price I can buy 2 Jackson EQC's.   Oh wait, I already did a long time ago and they both still work great, guess I don't need any more!MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I think I might spring for the 9100 XX.
Reply:I just bought and received a 9100xx with side windows from Weldfabulous (great folks to buy from BTW). What a piece of work! Totally adjustable. They really put some thought into both the helmet and headgear. You can actually adjust the hood so the lens is closer or further from your face. I like having it closer. It effectively makes the viewing area even larger. The vents under the filter keep it from fogging when it's adjusted close to your face. The lower center of gravity makes it more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It doesn't feel top heavy like some other hoods do. It stays up until you're ready to flip it down. The only drawback I've found with it so far, and it's kind of a biggie for me, is that the only magnifying lens available for it is the standard 2" X 4-1/4" size. It bothered me enough that I had a conversation with a 3M representative about it. I could not understand how they could overlook a detail as simple as that after putting so much effort into designing such a user friendly helmet. I just had to let them know. He said the more people comment on that aspect, the more likely they will do something about it. Here's my plea. I would encourage anyone that buys a 9100x or xx to contact them by phone or email (they do read their emails and reply to them) and explain how you would like to have a magnifying lens that actually covers the entire viewing area of your lens. Other than that, my opinion is I think this helmet has many more usable, real world features that more than make up any difference in price. A lot of welders won't see the need for a helmet like this but for my application, it's almost everything I could want.Dynasty 300DX TIG RunnerMillermatic 210Spectrum 375Smith O/A Metal working tools out the ears, Yada Yada Yada....I can still walk in my shop......That means I need more equipment, right?

Reply:I have three speedglas helmets,  two older ones (not sure of the model #)  and the       9100xx.  Since buying the new 9100xx about 5 months ago I haven't used any of my old helmets....  I absouletly love it!  It seems to be much easier to see with and it is so much more comfertable!  I think it might even be lighter!  Also the larger viewing area and side windows are a very nice option.  All in all i would recommend it to anyone if you dont mind spending the $450 bucks  But then again what kind of a price do you put on your eyes... you only get one set of themPS:  I also have two Jackson ECQ auto darkening helmets and an Optrel auto darkening helmet but none of them even hold a candle to the speedglas helmets!Matt

Reply:Originally Posted by Black WolfThe only difference between the 9100X and the 9100XX is the fact that the "XX" is slightly inferior because it does not have the solar cell which shortens the expected battery life from 2500hrs (x) to 2000hrs (xx)
Reply:Have you tired out the new helmet yet?
Reply:Do you mean tried?Yes I have. And I guess I was expecting the optics to be only slightly better than the first generation EQC I've had for 14 years, or maybe the Speedglas 9000 that my buddy has. I was almost stunned by the clarity. Like I said, it may just be the fact that it has a larger lens and lets in more light. I'm not sure but I really like it so far.Dynasty 300DX TIG RunnerMillermatic 210Spectrum 375Smith O/A Metal working tools out the ears, Yada Yada Yada....I can still walk in my shop......That means I need more equipment, right?

I've replaced the batteries and the lenses on the outside chance that that would help, it didn't. Will post up on 3M's reply

Reply:Guess my e-mail got lost in the shuffle. I just got off the tel with their CS rep and she was fantastic. I also e-mailed her the details and she promised someone would get back to me tomorrow. This is the 1st time I've called them BTW and she couldn't have been more professional
Reply:Just got off the tel with their tech rep named Derrick (sp). He was very well versed in their products, answered all of my questions, and he asked a few as well. Then advised he was sending me a replacement for my auto lense. I really couldn't ask for more than that.

Reply:Does anyone know if a 9100XX cartridge will fit an older style shell?  ( with the addition of the new silver front )I'm waiting for a reply from 3M but thought i would ask here while i wait.
Reply:My company buys my helmets for me, so i figured id try this one, its nothing to write home about. Its light and a decent viewing area, not that you need a huge viewing area to begin with. I still prefer my optrel satellite.

Reply:Already got the new auto-lense, installed it, and sent the old one back using the included pre-paid box and UPS sticker. They were great and this will darn sure influence my decision when I buy the next hood, probably an SL
Reply:I'll just extend on this old thread:Some newbie questions:9100 side windows - I understand that they have no 6 shade and enable you to have a better view but are there any side problems i.e. flashing from the front (assume only one person is welding) ?Anyone got a clue in which case the 9100X (with solar cell support) would be advantageous to have over the 9100XX (without solar cell)  ? I'm thinking the 9100XX larger glass is an advantage but am not sure what I lose out on if there is no solar cell(I'm not in USA/around here I can only find the 9100X and am trying to figure out whether it's worth getting the 9100XX imported)
