Has anyone tried to make a hydraulic car lift?  I was poking around northerns web site and got to wondering how difficult (and expensive) it would be to build a hydraulic jack for the times I have to reshoe one of the mustangs in the corral.Could be dangerous, could be fun, hell, it could be both.
Reply:I thought about it but.........I would hate to see somebody else, let alone myself get crushed because of something stupid. I saw an episode of cops one time where they went to this house, and this guy had been under the caliper for about 2 days they said. Needless to say, he didn't look very good. Spend a couple hundred on a good one and take care of it. I have a Craftsman now that is starting to go down on it's own. Just the movement of jacking it up (remove minds from gutter please) will make it slip....what a POS. Maybe just an oil change, sorry for the ramble.Miller blue star 2eLincoln 175

Reply:A bit off topic, but witht he floor jacks that will creep down.  Pull the fill plug out, add oil and bleed the air.  I had stumbled onto a garage sale years ago where I picked up ten floor jacks for ten dollars.  All were the 2.5 ton and larger variety.  Three had blown seals, two were rusted tight, but five of them just needed some fluid and bleed.AutoArc 120 MIGMontgomery Ward AC/DC 230r.i.p. - Miller Thunderbolt 05 Jeep Liberty Renegade
