Reply:wow nice work ,must be nice havein stainless like the just laying a round ChuckASME Pressure Vessel welder
Reply:Thanks for the kind words. Im a pretty big fan of the hitch as well, I have had it for 3 years now on my truck and it still looks just as clean.......requires a little spring cleaning after a salty MN winter. The great thing about the shop I work for is they encourage (t0 a point) personal projects. It's a custom stainless shop so I have access to alot of scrap stainless and some handy equipment. Thanks again.

Reply:yes, the auger was made with slpit washers then plasma cut to get the taper and thrown in the lathe to make it uniform.Im going to try 2 more pics to see if they are smaller, not sure how to do it.

Reply:great looking work. its gotta be nice to have lots of scrap SS around to play with. you should make up some more of thouse hitches and sell them. you could make some real good $$ off them. every one up north would jump on the opertunity to have one made out of SS, i know i would. and at the price they want for plane steel ones you could make a killing off of selling SS one's.here is a program for resizing pictures. its strait off the microsoft site. its about 3/4 of the way down the page. it works great and you can do hole files full of pic's at one time, you dont even have to open them first.here is the link to it.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspxworks great, you get a smaller but still just as clear picture and it makes it as a coppy so the original stays the way it was. fast and simple. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:I did consider making hitches like this one and mirror finish as well. The one I made is almost an exact copy of the factory hitch that came on my truck so I had a pattern to measure and copy. As far as making them for any other brand/model it would require alot more work and planning to get them to fit properly not having a pattern to go by. The finishing work is also a pain in the @$$,pretty time consuming. I would rather do a bead blast or a mirror finish if I ever did it again. At one time I had alot of interested people,12 I think, wanting me to make the same hitch for their ford rangers. I decided if they all wanted them I would go through my company and have them make them all so I wouldnt have to..............nobody was impressed with my employers $900 price tag, needless to say I didnt make any..lolBy the way, Thanks for the resizing program, Ill check it out.
Reply:$900 could be a bit hard to swallow. i was thinking more along the lines of maybee making a few a month out of the useable scrap at maybee $350. you could use a reec hitch for a pattern dont they fit multiple applications. even so i would bet you could e-bay them for the same truck you have no problem if you could make them out of the scraps and only have time invested at home on the weekends.too bad it didnt work out for ya on the 12 but maybee a few at a time here and there for about 1/2 that would work. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:I couldn't put a hitch like that on my ute it would be worth more than the ute  Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
