I would really like to know how you guys get the "stack of dimes" look on stainless. The kind that looks almost like aluminum welding where the the dips are big and spaced out. Earlier today I tried it and I had to crank the amps up to get a big puddle going. When I did that I got that burnt gray crap again on the welds.
Reply:practice practice practice is all there is to it..stainless is the easiest thing to weld..start a puddle..dip..keep the torch at the same angle and move ahead 1/8"..dip...repeat...dip..repeat...keep going...look behind the weld just as you look in front..keep everything even..your footpedal has alot to do with your puddle and the end result...practice practice practice... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:i would have to say he got all the info there realy is to give on this from you zap. only thing i can think might be werth adding is SS dose well with higher flow rates. but looks realy come down to practice practice practice  summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Here is how I do it, you pulse weld using your foot . Its all about heat control and gas coverage. You want to get the puddle down as fast as possible then let up on your foot just to the point that the machine is off, so there is a arc but it's not melting anything and you just repeat the process up and down..Strive For Perfection

Reply:Thanks alot brooks. Now thats Kinda what I was looking for. I dont have a pedal but I have a finger control and my machine has a built in pulser. That should do the same thing right?
Reply:The pulse function on your welder will do exactly that.Get the settings right for the material, learn to add the filler rod at the right time and the welder will do the rest....but you don't have to pulse weld to get the "stack of dimes" look. Like Brooks said, heat settings, amount of filler rod, and gas settings/coverage are all important factors to make a good weld, pulsed or continuous.I prefer continuous welding myself.Either way, it still takes practice.- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
