just recently purchased a used ln-25.never used flux core machine.question i have is what are they talking about when they say constant current&constant voltage cc&cv.how do i know what im using.going to be used off a miller goldstar.
Reply:All stick/ tig machines are constant current CC and all mig machines are constant voltage.

Reply:Your Goldstar is a CC or Constant Current, machine. Constant current is mainly used for stick welding, (SMAW or Shielded Metal Arc Welding) and Tig weldng (GTAW or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Constant Voltage or CV is mainly used for mig (GMAW or Gas Metal Arc Weding) and Flux core (FCAW). Since the LN-25 is voltage sensing wire feeder, you can use it with your Goldstar. There should be a switch on the wire feeder for CC or CV, and you would set that to CC."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:seems like linclon doesent recomend running off of cc mode?? why is that??what kind of machine would give me cv.how critical is this??from what i read looks like this welder is difficult hook up and run. any other pointers would be appreciated.thank you everbody for your helpwillie
Reply:I think you must be reading into it something that isn't there. A CV source would naturally be recommended as that is what the MIG process uses. However, as it is arc 'voltage sensing', the LN-25 is designed to be used with CC (stick/TIG) machines as well. From the LN-25 manual:"The LN-25 can be used with any DC welding power source. A constant voltage power source is recommended; however, the LN-25 can also be used with a constant current power source as long as the open circuit voltage is less than 110V DC."MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
