We're doing some CWB Practice in College. Here's 6/12 pases with the 7018. Flat position. Once completed.....I'll have to cut it and bend it. Attached ImagesLast edited by Newfie#2; 02-27-2007 at 04:31 PM.
Reply:Can't see first photo too well, second one really looks nice! Really smooth, flat, tie-in from one bead to the other and onto the sidewall of the joint. What's after this, 2G, 3G, 4G?Can you describe how you manipulate the electrode, the weave pattern?
Reply:Using 1/8 7018 I used about a 20 degree travel angle. On the sides I tipped the rod down so I wouldn't get any undercut. The two pieces are different. One is side is flat, like a butt joint, and the other side is feathered. The first pass on each piece was only 1.5" long, and then I had to do a stop/start from that 1.5" and continue the rest of the way. Then it was stringers from then on. Apparantly the purpose of that start/stop is in the bend test....see if my stop/start will hold up to the bend. After this yeah, its 2G, 3G, and 4G. This project is on hold now, as we just got into MIG.......I already love the idea of NO SLAG. Although I'm use to Stick now, I'm having trouble trying to get in a comfortable position and seeing what I'm doing with that giant nozzle in the way and a tiny wire hidden in the middle of it. |
