I live just outside of KC, MO (Oak Grove, mo)I'm looking to see where people get their supplies from in this air. Cheap steel, etc. I'm buying a millermatic mig from Hohenshchild in KC, but was wondering more about metal. not sure where i'll get it, but thought I'd ask the gang here for any valuable NW Missouri/Mid missouri welding information. Thanks guys and what a great forum. Matt
Reply:Hi Matt:It kind of depends on what you need. There are several major steel suppliers in the metro area, mostly NKC but a couple in the Independence area. Check the phone book. For small quantities of "Got to have it NOW!" stuff Metal By The Foot is down on Truman Road, close to where it passes under I-70 and there is another outfit called Metal Cut To Length with shops in Claycomo and Olathe. Used materials are available from the usual suspects like Jones (NKC), etc. Several places in Independence, too. Fab shops often sell "drop steel" at good prices. It pays to shop a bit. If you know of any small fab shops or hobbyist in your area you might consider consolidating your orders and maybe getting a better price.RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches
