I just love the positioner..Being able to weld a whole shaft without stopping has made me a happy ...zap!Here is the shaft in the positioner waiting for the Inevadable..Here's both worn out bearing landings..I'll do the other end in the A.M...Note in pic 1..There is a black thing on the shaft..Thats called a magnet..So I'm assuming the shaft is steel..Not aluminum..Not stainless..There has been discussion lately about if I know what anything is made out of...Or if I'm welding the "right" stuff with the "right" filler wire.. I'm pretty sure I need 70S-2 for that..OOPS!! Too late..One side has been done already.. Thats my story and I'm sticking with it!!...zap! Reply:Looking good. Are you thinking about a TIG wire feeder yet?You know, with a nice machined cylinder like that, you could clamp the torch (with wire feed) to a cross slide at a fixed arc length, and jog the torch over to the toe line every 360 degrees.
