i got picked to test out millers new line of welding gloves. for those that have not seen them yet you should realy check them out. hard to pic a faveret out of the bunch but the MIG/Stick are defenetly taking the lead. they fit great and alow me to feel the stuff i'm working with. befor i always had to take off the big bulky gloves to do my fit up, that or i would use my mechanics gloves witch we all know get burned up prity fast and if you grab the work wile hot....pooof the thing just melts right to you. i always thought there should be some thing between the TIG glove and the big padded bulk, well now there is. i still have not had a chance to try out the TIG gloves yet but hope to get to that this weekend. tryed them on and they feel grat and look fantastic. the last few days we been in some kind of late winter storm so its like -20 out with wind chill factored in, schools closed yesterday and today so its a lil cold for me to try to get the shop up to temp and be able to work on any thing. i did build a new cart for my lil MM135 this gave me a chance to try out the metal hamdeling gloves (similer to the craftsmen mechanics glove only much better reinforced leather), the MIG gloves, and the MIG/Stick gloves not too shore how well they would work over say 300amps but for most of us thats over oure usual heat any way.i'll let ya know what i think of the TIG gloves as soon as i get a chance to try them out but you guys should realy check them out at your LWS. odds are you will find a set or 2 you just have to have. i have some better pic's of the indivigual gloves if interested, just let me kow and i'll post some for ya. Reply:Lucky bum...Wish I coulda gotten in on free anything!  Pretty fed up with my first set of Tillmans.  Theyve blown two seams, and have stretched/shrunk in strange dimensions not of this world.ThermalArc 185MillerMatic 180 w/ AutosetVictor Cutskill Oxy/AcetyleneThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38and spite!
Reply:if its any help i did a burn VS shrinkage test on the MIG gloves as i have several other gloves that did the shrinkage and dont work out to well after. so at the request of others also wondering, i did a burn test. as you can see by the blackend area i put some heat into it. this is the back off my left hand used as a stedieing point wile MIG welding. normaly i use a heat shield after rouening several gloves i started using the heat shield but took it off for this test. there was to my suprise no shrinkage. and internal heat was less than i had expected as the MIG glove has verry little insilation/padding. if i had been wearing the MIG/Stick gloves i dont think the heat would have been an isue. but thinking i was about to rouen a pair of gloves i wanted it to be the mig ones as i like the MIG /Stick better. needless to say it did not kill or even bother the glove, its just disscollored. Reply:Wow, now those look cool.
Reply:thease are my faveret, they fit and fell verry much like TIG gloves but have great heat protection. there is no question i will be ordering more when they wear out, that said i think they will last me a verry long time. its just soo much nicer to be able to feel the work when MIGing. i'll get some pic's of my MIG cart i built with them up tomarow if i can get out to the shop and get it heated up. its been way cold here with school closings the last 2 days so i have not been able to get the shop to heat up. Reply:as much so or even more than the bulky ones i used befor. atached is a pic of the ones i used befor. big bulky with no feel to them. the miller MIG/Stick do as well or better. i normaly use a slip on heat shield on my bracing hand but have not yet with these. i figured it would not be a fair test to the glove to add the heat shield wile testing. so they are doing a better job then i had expected. and as tested befor they did not shrink up deforming the glove like the standerd ones do so odds are good they will last me a good long time. well werth the $20 they sell for IMO.and they look cool too. i took a permanent marker and collored in the design on the backs as it is just branded to it and i wanted it to last a bit longer as they got dirty.
