I have just taken two classes on stick welding at our local college.  I am really enjoying it and ready to invest in a welder myself.  I am interested in hobby welding and art projects.   I am thinking of the millermatic 140...any comments?
Reply:Great welder and worth the money. I have a old version of it and love it.  I should mention that you might like to go bigger as I am sure you will receive several post telling you the same thing. Most people find after buying a welder that they start moving up quickly to heavy material and projects. If you are sure of what you want the welder for and this one will do, than by all means get the one you want.Here it comes  I myself am going to get the miller DVI. this unit gives you the ability to use it as a 110 volt unit similar to the mm140 but also can run on 220 volts allowing you to have a higher amp range for thicker material. Great welder with the best of both worlds for me. As I have been using the 110 unit for some time now I know what I need and want. The hard part for you will be deciding with all the different types on input you will receive here on this post. Their are several ways of looking at this and finding the one that best suits you is the hard part. Also what your budget can handle. If money ins't a big concern than I would definitely go for a bigger welder like the DVI, MM180, or MM210. Reply:The Milller units are a good product. I have two - a TIG and Plasma. On the MIG side, I went with the Clarke 130EN, by far the best bang for the buck and welds very nice.
