I need a piece of 16" diameter tube for a concrete form only needs to be about 2 inchs long. Im sick of cutting up sona tube each time so I want to make a steel form. ID can be +- an inch so it doesnt need to be exactly 16". Any ideas?
Reply:try a scrap yard, you should be able to buy what you need by the pound
Reply:Why not make one out of 2"x 1/8" flat stock? Find something 16 inches in diameter and bend it around it.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Check the furnace piping section at your local home depot or Ace hardware. There is bound to be something that diameter.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:There is a piece of 15.5 OD tubing 3"tall with a (about) 3/8" wall thickness on the floor of the shop (I saw it this A.M. when I thought of this post) that I'll give you if you wish..Just pay the shipping......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:A cheap harbor freight ring roller. Some 1/8"x1-1/2" strap. make a form then wrap as Microzone suggested. Or you can make many straps rings and stack and tack them together. I believe the capacity is 1 inch wide on that roller, however I have rolled 1.5 width. If you get too wide then it becomes conical as you roll.
Reply:Just use the 2" x 1/8" flat stock and make a round form with a 16" diameter out a piece of 3/4" wood, and for the metal around that.Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
Reply:tack some scrap on your welding table in the circle you want..shouldnt need to many spots for thin materialor....i would think 1/8 material would bend around a decent sonotube

Reply:I would use something thinner, like 18 or 20ga. Easy to bend. you'll need a strip about 50" long.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:Originally Posted by ztecI thought about that but I cant seem to find much that is 16" in diameter. I would have to use sona tube and pour concrete into it and bend it around that which is probobly what I will end up doing. I was just hoping there was a place that might sell something already made.
