Hello, can someone in the know here please tell me what (generally) are household oven/stove connectors wired up to handle what amount in term of amperage? I just look at the stove wire that goes into the wall socket, and it appears quite thick.
Reply:Another way is to look at the circuit breaker or look at the oven plug, there should be a NEMA number 6-50P, 250 volt @ 50 amps.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...26tbs%3Disch:1

Reply:It probably varies a bit with jurisdiction. In Ontario Canada an oven receptacle is fused or breakered at 40 amps. A # 8 wire is run to it which is also rated at 40 amps. Why do you ask?
Reply:Find the circuit breaker that feeds your oven outlet and read the numbers printed on the breaker, that will tell you exactly what your particular circuit is rated for.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Why not just buy the right plug to fit the outlet and wire that to welding machine's power cord? That's how I do it if I'm only going to be connecting that machine to that outlet. If I intend to connect the machine to different outlets, then I put a plug on the machine to match the outlet style I intend to use the most of and make an adapter (or multiple adapters) to fit whatever other outlet I want to use.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
