Aloha from Hawaii Weldors,Anyone own a Lincoln PowerWave 355? I plan to buy one with the composite wire feeder to do some structural welding and wanted to know if investing 6-8 Grand on this setup is worth the $$$$.Thanks....Modern Welding and FabricationEwa Beach, Hawaii
Reply:its a waste if all your going to do is structural. Flux core either gas shielded or innershield is much preferred for structural welding. the fancy bells and whistles are more useful if your going to be doing thinner metals or exotics.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Hi mweld; The PW355 is a mid platform production machine and since it's an inverter comes with a lot of other goodies (with a computer and an inverter = medieval if you want). For structural welding you can get any capable welder from a-z and a backup for the same price.Narrow your needs for better tips, plenty of good help from the folks here.Matt |
