just thought maybe I would post this here my car is basically a 93 mustang coupe with a 408 cu inch motor and single 88mm turbo car is very capable of every bit of 1200hp, I just installed the motor plate a few weeks ago so I now need to make a new set of turbo headers to clear the motor plate and mid plate heres some pics of what I got done today
Reply:not much room but its enough heres some with the collector mocked up I have them angled just a little outwards in order to keep the bends on the primarys to a minumum to clear the strut towersthe collectors will get cut down a lot and have v-band clamps welded onto the end of them
Reply:got a little more time this morning and got the third primary done just have to do a bit of trimming to it and its pretty much good to go
Reply:I may be new here but...Why are they going forward?? ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Front mount turbo setup, crossover will come to either side and join in for a single turbo setup. Looks good so far. Are your heads studded or o-ringed? Even at 15 lbs. of boost with that turbo, it will start to lift the heads. Keep us updated and thanks for sharing.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Originally Posted by ralphiejantzYeah ARP head studs and cometic headgaskets, same shortblock that I used on my last setup made over 1100 flywheel hp on the engine dyno
Reply:Originally Posted by ralphiejantzYeah its 16 gauge mild steel I usually use stainless when the actual headers are holding up the turbo without a support for the turbo but thats not the case in this designIm going to make a nice bracket and flange to hold the turbo up connecting to the motor plate so there will not be any weight hanging from the headers, A lot of the more common turbo setups are made of 16 gauge mild steel in order to keep the costs down, Ive used it on a ton of turbo kits that Ive built from scratch or fixed up someone elses hack job and never had a problem with it at all,
Reply:Originally Posted by RojodiabloRalph, in the pic it shows the front tube being much shorter. On my racebikes, we always had equal length tubes, and even my Chevy(RIP) had them. Is it not necessary because of the turbo? I know very little about turbo systems, and I was wondering.
Reply:Got a little more done today passenger side is just about done just have to weld up the star piece for the ends of the primarys and measure where I want to cut the collector

Reply:i would have used a thicker stainless, but if you get those ceramic coated they might do the job.

Reply:Got a little more time today and got the first two tubes of the drivers side doneI was going to run it over the top of the motor plate like I did on the passengers side but after laying out where I wanted to the turbo to sit and how I wanted to support it from the motor plate it was better to run it under the motor plate so I now have to relocate the oil filter because its right in the way,Just curious as to where you bought your header flanges and piping?  I have a 01 Cobra that is getting a similar setup (home-made) using 2 Garrett G3076R's.
Reply:There are a bunch of places you can get piping and flanges, just run a 'net search. Either that or I can get you some. eGay has alot of stuff too, you just have to watch who you buy from for quality. There are quite a few sellers listing cheap chinese stuff.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Originally Posted by ralphiejantzYeah its not gonna get used but I do some racing for money and believe it or not when guys see a full interior they think the car weighs a lot so it leaves me room to run some people heads up thats why I still have the factory front seats and all panels in there as well

Reply:Your project is coming along nicely. Is this a street driven car as well? 2.5 inch or 3 inch crossover? I'm doing a build with a 74mm version of the same turbo on a 331. Progressing VERY slowly at the moment  .If you ever decide to get rid of those front factory seats, let me know. I got rid of mine for some Corbeau's and wish I'd kept the stockers. I have a black interior as well.Keep the pics coming as well. Dyno results too!!
