heavy welding table

Thought i post some pics of a welding table i'm building.The frame is all made out of 4x4x1/4 tubing which i know is over kill but it was free.The top is 3/8 plate that i got kinda cheap.The cross member under the top is 4" channelspaced 1 ft apart that was also overkill but free.the table is 4'x8'.I'll post pics with the top on tomorrow. Reply:My shop is a 30' by 40' pole barn me and my son built last summer.It took me all summer to build because i done it all out of my pocket.So now its done and paid for.I left a three inch over hang all around the table so i can clamp things.I'm also adding a few pics of planters i made for my wife. Reply:Jeff - I know all about building out of pocket. I started my 32x40 building late November, early December this past year. I just got the front on and now I have to enclose the back, which is directly attached to my smaller 24x24 shop. Reply:Nice table, you should have put wheels under that thing when you had a chance.  Man that's got to be too heavy to even slide.  Now it's ready for the accessories, vise, hangers, cup holder etc.Michael

Reply:nothing wrong with over kill. my table is only 3'X5' but it 1 1/8" thick.i added a cross pice under the feet to give it a larger foot print so all the wait was not sitting on a 2" square, it would have gone threw the floor.LOL it shore is nice having a solid table, many times i was glad it was so solid. not so glad when i was moving it. needless to say it has not moved one time after it was brought in. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:I welded a piece of 1 1/4 pipe under both ends in the middle and i take two floor jacks and jack it up.I can easily move it all over my shop.
